As a marketer, you must have used ChatGPT to write sections of your blogs, blog titles, social media posts, and emails. And you might have found the suggestions useful enough.
But what if I told you that there’s a better and more powerful alternative that absolutely must try?
Claude 3.5, from Anthropic AI.
I used it for 30 days, straight and I think it’s the best AI tool for writers, marketers, and copywriters.
Why, you may ask?
While Claude and ChatGPT both give out grammatically correct text, there’s a slight but important difference between the two. While ChatGPT sounds a little robotic, Claude’s outputs are human-like and conversational. Straight up, It’s more engaging overall.
If I’m being honest, I use Claude every day and it’s become an important part of my writing workflow.
But is it better than ChatGPT? Well, there’s one way to find it out. By putting both to the test. Here’s the ultimate showdown for ChatGPT vs Claude.
We’ll test both for three use cases, compare the results, and find the winner. So, without wasting much time, let’s get into it.
Note – To make the test fair, we’re using the free version of both tools.
1. Writing a Nurture Email
So, let’s assume you need to write a follow-up email as part of a nurture email series. For this scenario, we’re assuming you’re nurturing a set of users who’ve downloaded an email marketing report.
We’ll enter the same prompt in both ChatGPT and Claude and compare the results.
Prompt I used –
Think like a copywriter who has about 10 years of experience in the B2B field. Help me write a nurture email for prospects for an Email Marketing Brand who’ve downloaded a report about email marketing benchmarks. Keep in mind they’ve already received a first email that has the link to the report with some additional details. This is the follow-up email that asks for their feedback if they’re interested in learning more about email personalization through a demo (and a whitepaper) and shares a case study about Amazon and how they leveraged email personalization to increase their conversions by 20%. The goal of the email is to nurture them by sharing a few high-intent assets. Keep the email under 3 paragraphs and succinct.
ChatGPT
Claude
After analyzing both outputs we found that –
- Claude followed the instructions better compared to ChatGPT 4.
- ChatGPT’s output was very generic and lengthy. Not at all succinct.
- Claude’s output is very usable output that you can directly use without your prospects knowing that it was written by AI.
Winner – Overall, Claude gave a better output, it was more conversational and usable.
2. Writing a Social Media Post
Next up, let’s look at how both tools perform in crafting social media copies. Here we’re looking to create a bunch of post copies for LinkedIn to promote the email marketing benchmark report.
The goal is to make the posts conversational and engaging!
Prompt I used –
Think like a copywriter who has about 10 years of experience in the B2B field. Help me create a LinkedIn social media post for promoting an email marketing report. Here’s a brief about the report and insights –
The Email Benchmarks Report 2024 analyzed 10.9 billion emails sent over the past 12 months. The aim is to identify industry-based open rates, CTRs, delivery rates, and more. 7 geographies and 11 industries covered, including BFSI, Retail and E-commerce, Lifestyle, and more.
While writing the social media posts, ensure to keep it conversational, include emojis, and hook folks into downloading the report (which is the goal of the post). Don’t use more than 3-4 lines. Give 3 options.
ChatGPT
Claude
After analyzing both outputs we found that –
- Claude has used the emojis cleverly and overall options were more unique.
- ChatGPT’s output was too bland for my taste and the copies don’t include impactful words or statistics.
Winner – Claude has overall better unique options for social media posts.
3. Writing Blog Titles
For the final test, we’re asking both AI platforms to generate blog titles. The idea is to write a title for a blog about email benchmarks ensuring the title is SEO optimized, catchy, and converts on social.
Prompt I used-
Think like a copywriter who has about 10 years of experience in the B2B field. Suggest blog titles for promoting an email marketing report. Here’s a brief about the report and insights –

While writing the blog title, ensure to keep it short, use impactful words, and have a hook so folks click to read on. Give 3 options.
ChatGPT
Claude
After analyzing both outputs we found that –
- Both did a poor job of suggesting usable and effective blog titles.
- The responses apart from one were too generic.
Winner – While both didn’t give good options, Claude was slightly better and had a usable option. Maybe you can tweak the prompt to get better outputs.
Here’s My Final Thoughts
After testing both Claude and ChatGPT on these prompts, I have to give the edge to Claude. While ChatGPT’s responses were solid, Claude’s just felt more human-like and natural. That being said, you can improve ChatGPT’s outputs by refining the prompts and giving it better instructions.
But in my experience using Claude for the past 30 days, I found myself coming back to it again and again for its superior writing capabilities.
So if you’re a writer, marketer, or creator looking for an AI assistant to level up your content, I’d highly recommend giving Claude a try. Let me know if you agree or disagree with my assessment in the comments below!
